98 ford windstar rear hatch door strut mount rusted and broke.

This is probably too late for your help but maybe it will help others. I took a 1/4-20 round head bolt, ground the head to fit in the strut. Grind the broken piece flat,drill and tap the bracket to accept bolt. I went all the way thru enough so I could put a lock nut on the other side. Put a little thread locker on and its working fine.

go to your local salvage yard,get all you want for $5.00 each.
