98 ford windstar rear hatch door strut mount rusted and broke.

My 98 Ford Winstar van rear top hatch door strut pins are rusted and one has broken off. Ford offers assembly for 80.00 ea. and then pay shop to mig weld! Anyone know if there is a screw in type alternative pin. Thanks

This is probably too late for your help but maybe it will help others. I took a 1/4-20 round head bolt, ground the head to fit in the strut. Grind the broken piece flat,drill and tap the bracket to accept bolt. I went all the way thru enough so I could put a lock nut on the other side. Put a little thread locker on and its working fine.

go to your local salvage yard,get all you want for $5.00 each.
