Steering pump

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Use power steering in my truck when it was not
running and it started spewing fluid everywhere
and shuddering steering is shot

So it is normal for the power steering fluid to spray out when it is forced to turn without the pump running, you just have to refill it before starting it up, if you didn't then you have shoved air into the system, so now you will have to bleed it all out, this can be done with the engine running and turning the steering wheel from lock to lock until the pump quits making noise, on severe cases I have made sure the fluid is topped off and let it set overnight and the rechecked it in the AM before starting it up and driving it.
