Why does my 1995 gmc Sierra have no Dash lights
was blowing fues right away found
out had a after market deck problem
rewired it now have tail lights not
blowing fuese but no dash lights and
power coming out of switch
The short could have fired the dash light resistor, it seem that you know what you are doing so just bypass the resistor with a jumper wire and see if the dash light turn on, if they do then you will need a new switch. if they don't then you will have to trace down the broken circuit.
That what I was thinkin so went and grab a new switch still no luck and a blew another fuse so taillight are still being a issue...
The first place I always start when I have this kind of problem is the add on equipment. i ask myself, does it have a trailer plug, if so check it out and the wiring to it, next check the rear light grounds and power wiring, any rubbed through wiring in the frame or body, then check the grommets in the firewall connectors and hope I find it before then because after you get into the dash wiring things get messy real fast. So I suggest that if you still can't find it after the firewall then purchase a good shop manual with wiring and component locator included in it. Hope I've been some help to you.
