If your alternator has a large plug with 2 or 3 wires connected to it replace the plug. They were notorious for burning out. I work at NAPA and years ago our replacement alternators for these Ford Products would come with a new plug assembly. That's how prone to failure they were! HTH. -Jim

start the car then while running disconnect negative battery post if it dies replace the alternator
