i dont know shit about my 85 lincoln towns car

so i bought my first car a few days and it didnt come with a owners manual
and my brake light and turn signals are not working. the other problem is that
it will kill itself while driving it and it looses alll power. i have not a clue what
any of the parts are besides the battery and egine. i also know its a v8

The first thing to do is to replace the TFI module and the distributor pickup coil. see pics.

If both the brake and turn signals are out and the fuses are good, check for power at the brake light switch, that is down under the dash and is attached to the brake pedal, one wire should have battery voltage the other none, push the pedal and the other wire should have power then, if not replace the switch, next try turn the 4 way flashers on and off a few times, sometimes they stick and shut off both the brakes and turn signals, if that isn't it then turn the key on and turn a signal on and try gently push or pull on the turn signal stalk and see if there is some kind of response either inside or outside of the vehicle, chances are high that the turn signal switch is bad just due to the age of the vehicle. Thats about it.
