Why is one cat. converter staying hot and the other one staying cool?

Asked by Sep 01, 2012 at 03:58 PM about the 1999 Ford Taurus

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

All the sudden the car started running  bad. The service engine soon light began blinking. We have
changed spark plugs and wires. Coil pack, along with fuel filter and no change. Tonight we noticed that
the exhaust manifold was glowing. What could this be? Thank you

If it is glowing the cataytic convertor is probably clogged, probably from a misfire from the plugs/coil. Now that you have new plugs and a coil pack, your looking at replacing the convertor.
