I was wondering what would cause the starter to burn up twice?

Asked by Jun 12, 2013 at 09:00 PM about the 2005 GMC Canyon

Question type: General

I've had to replace the starter on my 2005 GMC Canyon twice after they burn out and its not cheap. Shouldn't the starter be protected by a fuse or circuit breaker?

1 Answer

No they are direct feed from the battery, have you done a voltage drop test on the starter cables? Consistently low cranking voltage will damage a starter over time.
