why won't my 97 Geo prism won't shift out of gear parked on slight incline

I parked my 97 Geo prism in my driveway they is
slanted and now it won't change gears

If you look next to the gear shifter you will see a small black plugtake a knife or something sharp and lift it out this will allow you to manuel take it out of gear.
