Best Engine oil for Toyota Vitz 2001 model 997 cc

Asked by Jan 08, 2016 at 04:19 AM about the 2001 Toyota Vitz

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have Vitz 2001 model 997 cc. Currently ODO meter shows 147,000 Km. Previously i was using Caltex Havoline motor oil for last 2 years with no problem. Last time due to non availability of havoline i switched to Toyota motor oil (PETRON) API SL/CF SAE-20W-50 on advice of Toyota service center agent.

Somebody told me that i have not done right. Now i am confused that which one is the best oil for my car specs. Please advice.

If the Toyota service center can't be trusted, then I ask who can? Why would a Toyota dealer lie about maintenance.

Very sorry for the wrong recommendation the Toyota service center gave you. Toyota vitz is powered by 1szfe vvt-i engine which is designed to be lubricated by 5w30 fully synthetic oil. 5w30 is fast flowing oil which is deliverd to critical engine components specially during cold start operation where 90% of engine wear occurs. Not only you can minimize engine wear but also fuel consumption.
