Starting problem
My bantam does not want to start. After
trying to start it a couple of times if you
leave it for+- 30 min it eventually starts up ,
but then it runs rough. It idles as if it is
running on 3 cylinders or in the old days as if
the choke is open and it smells of fuel. After
it heats up everything is fine and it runs fine
as well. I have found that the problem of
starting the bakkie is worst on cold
mornings than on hot mornings. The bakkie
is basically brand new (20000km on the
clock). I hope someone could give me a idea
of what it could be.

This could be to do with the spark plugs. Was the engine washed at any stage while the engine was hot or running temperature ? If so it could be a cracked coil. It could also be the spark plug leads need replacing. At 20,000km and not run much the resistance could be out of spec. These can be checked one at a time with an Ohm meter set on K Ohms. For that length they should be between 4 to 8 K Ohms each
When your Bantam does not want to start ? Do you mean the engine cranks and doesn't start or when the keys is turned to start, the starter motor does not operate ?
Just had a Bantam with a similar problem. 2006 onwards , the model with an Oxygen Sensor. Replace the oxygen sensor. Although there are no fault codes in the system, still, perform the fault code function on the vehicle's PCM. Clean the spark plugs. start thee engine and let it idle for a few minutes. This should sort your problem out.

It's possibly thee starter relay has short circuited. I would start off by replacing the starter relay. The engine will crank, but no spark
what if the motor turns but no spark
Check the starter relay. If the starter relay has a short circuit the engine will crank, but there will be no spark at the spark plugs.
I also have a 2006 rocam. It only gives light signals inside and when trying to start, nothing happens. No crank nothing. It used to be making as many tries up to 30 then would start and its only when engine is cold. How can this be solved.Please help
Check the fuses and the relays. One of the relays in the Junction box , right side under the dash is the Power Hold relay. Its a little brown relay. Swaop it with one of the other relays. Once you have done this, rather take your vehicle to a reputable Auto Electrician or a Ford Dealer. It could be the key reader or the Computer Box. Let the Auto Electrician decide for you.

Sounds like the Computer Box problem. Its to do with the injector drivers in the computer box.
My Batum 2001. 1600,i not rocam Engin, won't start. Got spark on plugs , petrol at filter. It started by cutting out on the road. After cooling down it start again. I think it is the B3 Engin.
This Bantam with the B3 or B6 1600 i engine possibly has a small solid state coil. It it does , rathe fit an oil filled coil.

Check the basic tune-up areas. Have you fitted the correct spark plugs and set the Plug gaps to 1.0 mm. What is the condition of the air cleaner. Check for fault codes in the Computer box and clear them.
hey guys,i have a ford ikon 2005 model.it doesnt crank at all,at first it had a problem of hard start and loosing power while driving.i replace the fuel rail and it drove perfectly for two days and it went back to its usual thing of loosing power while accelerating then it cut off.when i tried to start it never cranked until today,its almost 5 months now.can anyone help me please 0627038526 (whatssup me)
does the Light next to the clock come on and go off when you switch the ignition to ON. Does it stay OFF, does it stay ON or does it flash quickly and then flash up codes ? Check for cranking and no spark.
Good evening,let me first thank you for getting back to me Guru97FK8. My clock,speed gauge,rev counter and temperature gauge hasn't been working for a while now before i get all the above mentioned problems.the car bumped the wall with the driver side,after the incident an orange sited men with a safety belt on and a ball or or air-burg shaped thing in- front of him and that was it.everything on the dash stopped working besides the petrol gauge,i can only see ON light on the dash now and that annoying orange man the clock is blank and nothing happens there when i start nor switch ON the ignition.
Check the fuses and relays. Check if the engine while idling if there is a hesitation of slight miss fire every seven seconds. If so, this will be a communication problem between the Computer Box and the instrument cluster. Check the wiring harness between the Comp Box and the cluster.

I have a ford ikon with idling problems car dies after pressing the accelerator engin idles rough and white smoke comes out exhaust and smells of petrol we have replaced tps sensor but still the same also tested pump on pressure its fine
Check for fault codes in the PCM (Computer box). Check your wiring harness and plugs. Check for damaged fuel return lines. Check that someone has not put diesel in the tank by mistake. Check the spark plug gaps, they must be 1.00 mm Gaps.
Hey guys i have a 1.6 rocam ! It cranks but doesn't start ! Seems like the fuel is not pumping checked fuses and they check out
Chech the inertia or cut-out switch on the left side under the dash. There is a hole in the side cover. Check the wiring and the 'spade' terminal where the power hold and fuel pump relays plug into. Just had one like that.
My 2005 bantam bake wont start ,the engine turne but no spark, have ,seems there is no current to the coil, ,have checked the crank sensor ,on problem.The clutch kit was replaced , could the flywheel be loos?if engen is cranked looks like the gearbox is moving,could this affect cam sensor not pickingup a signal
Have you fitted the original fly wheel to the engine. There is a difference between the flywheels pre-2007 and the 2007 onwards ( with the smaller computer boxes) If the starter relay has a short circuit the engine will crank, but there will be no spark, so check the starter relay
Hi my bantam 2009model does.nt start before u press the computer box plug harder, I changed the whole harness,fuel pressure that I make noise still no starting before u push the socket ,also it will take some time to stop the noise on the fuel pressured then start pleaseples help in

I have fordbantam 2006 in the morning it does not start or sometimes it will start done when I switch it off in it will delay to start.....but during the day it start without problems please help.

Hi gurus. I have a ford bantam 1600 rocam... 2007 model .. While i drove... My dash cluster went off... No needles moving the way they should, i then checked all the fuses it was fine... Then i saw on one post that the cluster could be dirty and i oped it and nothing wrong.... I checked the relays and swapped them around because its the same.... But now my bakkie doesnt want to start... When i turn my keys... Its like when the battery is flat... But battery is full charged and full power... Im stuck and dont know what to do... Please assist me
