Does the 88 Ciera have a relay switch for the fuel pump? If so, can it be overriden?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My ciera was running fine. I turned it off to run an
errand, then it would not start again .  I can get it to
start only by pouring gas in the carborator.  It won't
even turnover. If there is a relay switch, I would start
there before pulling the pump.

How much fuel is in the tank? If less than a 1/4 then it is most likely the fuel pump. You can try banging on the bottom of the fuel tank while someone try's to start it, if it fires and runs do not shut it off until you get it to where you want to go to fix it. Remember when you replace the pump also replace the fuel pump relay and the fuel filter.
