I have a Dodge d150 v6 1991 do I need a new transmission

,and it will go into gear in a while but
sometimes it won't..it will ho into gear fully
and I can drive for about a minute or less
and then it comes out and just reves up the
RPMs do I need a new transmission

When did you service it last? What is the fluids color?

The fluid is kinda old it needs change but could that be all of the reason

If the filter is plugged up from varnished and or burnt fluid it can cause what you are experiencing, I soul suggest dropping the trans pan and check the color and smell, if it is dark and smells burnt then your tranny isn't going to work correctly.
