All auto trannys have a shift knotdown cable and the shift on side of tranny could have been knotted off of its alinemant marks if you will take cable lose use a flash light and make sure your alinement marks are lined !

There is a slot in the leaver on side of tranny that a bolt with ajustment screws keep in place behind are the alinement marks !
I have a 2005 Ford expedition how to turn my old drive off but I can drive it cuz if I leave it on my transmission won't shift gears.
