Random stalling

Asked by Feb 24, 2018 at 11:26 PM about the 1995 Dodge Dakota

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a 95 dodge Dakota w a 318
magnum. About 2 weeks after getting this
truck it started stalling. Doesn’t matter if
I’m at a light or going 70. It acts like it’s out
of gas. First thought fuel filter. But it’s in the
tank. So I replace the fuel pump and filter.
Goes fine until I got stuck in traffic for a
few minutes. Then stalls. Starts back up
but rpms won’t hold so I have to drive it
two footed to get from a to b. Then it’s fine
for a few weeks. At this point have done
full tune up, replaced every sensor, relay
and switch for ignition, fuel pump and idle.
New coil. New modules. Run Lucas fuel
cleaner, dry gas cleaned tank and just
replaced injectors. Have dropped a fortune
in this truck and it currently sits on side of
the highway where I abandoned it fed up.
Over a year of sinking money into it and it’s
only getting worse. Has been looked at by
over half a dozen mechanics and none of
us can solve the problem. Any ideas?

HAD same problem 2000 ram van. check mulitpin connector under hood to engine. Bend pins sightly reconnect. Same for connections to fuelpump.I did this 2 years ago, has not missed a lick since. I figured this out after mech. shop, replaced $ 900.00 computer. Bonehead.

Just an update for anyone else with the same problem. I bought a reman ECU(computer) and problem solved. Board was overheating. Very easy to check for anyone else having this problem. A hand full of screws holds cover on. Check the silicone insulation barrier for cracks. Will be obvious. Good luck.
