Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Help! I have a 1989 mercury sable 3.0L
The car stalled while driving and since hasnt
started. I checked the fuel pressure and there was
none. I also couldnt hear the pump prime. There is
a spark. So i figured it was the fuel pump. I
replaced the fuel pump and it still wont start. There
is still no psi in fuel pressure and i still cant hear
the pump prime.

Check for a blown fuel pump fuse or the fuel pump wiring harness is bad and needs to be replaced.

Given the age of the vehicle the fuel pump may have just worn out. Since it's a Ford Product you may have a fuel pump inertia switch in the rear compartment. It should have a label near the reset switch that says something like inertia reset or fuel pump reset. If you had to panic stop then a minute or two later it stalled the switch may have tripped. Some of those switches were very touchy. HTH. -Jim
