96 dodge dakota starting problems

I have a 96 dodge dakota and my
transmission was bad the gears went. I got
a used transmission an my mechanic put it
in and now I'm having problems when it
starts. Its cranks over but going down the
road it will stall out and take a while to crank
over an get going.
