1981 Ford Fairmont - V8 - tail pipe routing

Asked by Nov 11, 2014 at 09:46 PM about the 1981 Ford Fairmont

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Mine was broken off - hooked in a parking lot.  Does it just go over the axle or between
the axle and the control arm.  I assume the head pipe needs to be turned to position the
muffler in the recess and up against the floor ? A diagram or a photo would e great if
anyone has one.

It goes over the axle. My problem was I had the muffler mounted upside down - the addition medal lawyer is a heat shield not a skip plate. Muffler I replaced was an economy one and did not have corrugated panel on one side.
