I just purchased a 2000 Toyota solara with 186,000 miles. Previous owner says the car will not pass emmisions . There's no check engine light on and the car drives perfect.

Does the check engine or service engine soon light come on and stay on with the ignition in the run position but the engine is not running? If not, that's why. During the emissions inspection they do a "bulb check". If the light won't come on as I've described it won't pass. HTH. -Jim
