Hello, when I turn on the cabin blower on my 1998 caravan, something in the engine starts to squeal. When I turn the blower off, the noise stops. Any ideas?
2 days ago, I turned on my cabin blower and a loud squeal noise came from
the engine. When I turned the blower off, the noise stopped. This occurs
when in park and when driving.
Just turn the key on do not start the engine then thurn on the blower and see if the noise still happens, if it does then you most likely have a blower motor on it's way out, if it is quiet then you may have a compressor locked up and causing the belt to squeal. HTH
The noise did not occur when the engine was not on. Is this an issue I need to get looked at asap?
Yes, if it is the compressor it could throw the belt and leave you sitting along the road with an overheated engine or worse.
