2009 Chevrolet Aveo Stalled while driving

Asked by RavenWings Nov 09, 2015 at 06:52 PM about the 2009 Chevrolet Aveo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a used Chevrolet Aveo with 79,000 miles on it.  I was stopped
at an intersection.  When the light turned green, I made a left-hand turn at
a low speed and the car just stopped dead.  I stepped harder on the gas
pedal with no response. No lurching, no smoking, no lights flashing... it just
went completely dead.  Put it in park, restarted it, and then it drove fine.
Concerned it's a hazard to drive.  What could be wrong?

Have you done a tune up lately? I would start with that and a good fuel system cleaner like Seafoam or Chevron Techron.

Any check engine light? You can have any auto parts store check for OBD trouble codes for free. Also check that your battery is mounted properly and not moving around. Check battery leads are properly secured.

Im having the same problems. Bought as is My mechanic bypass the brain he seen it on a YouTube video on how to fix the problem and other than having to wiggle the wire maybe once the month it stopped happening but my car was stopping dead and all the engine and oil and all the lights on the dashboard would light up and the car would be dead I had to have it towed twice and my mechanic talked to several people that are having the same problem there is 157 complaints including mine on the website mines on the 2009 Chevy Aveo and when it started I had less than 59 miles thousand miles I'm fighting with the dealer as of now and if they don't do something I'm going to put it on the news

Sorry, im not still sure about it. It could be electrical wiring that is grounded or loose, or mechanical issues. Vacuum hoses was fine. I just check not testing the sensors. But i will stick on wiring before replacing tons of shit that doesn't need. Im no electrical inclined but a little backyard mechanic..Can't figure it out
