car was low on oil, making NO unusal sounds, oil light going on and off. put oil in the car, asap, the car is making a loud grinding sound now and oil lite is still going on and off, what is going on

Sound,s like from running low on oil you have damage to the engine,

Oil pump not pumping oil and the grinding is most likely a main , rod or cam bearing gone bad from not getting any oil.
