Question on rear drive shaft

Asked by May 04, 2015 at 11:26 AM about the 1996 GMC Sierra C/K 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok, so I recently bought a 1996 gmc
1500 ext cab 2wd with the 5.7
vortec. My question is the old drive
line is ruined at the end that
connects the drive shaft to the rear
yolk, I have a drive line from a 1997
gmc 2500, if I swap over the spindle
shaft that connects the one comming
out of the tranny will it work or is it
going to be to big and just throw u-
joints?

I would be more concerned about the tube length,I do believe the EXT Cab trucks have a longer driveline than the standard trucks, then there is the size of the u-joints, 3/4 ton are usually larger than 1/2 tons. Measure everything before you dive into this.
