after a tune up
did a tune up plugs wires cap button and after i was done went to crank it up and it had a bad idle for about a minute then the check engine light comes on and it will fix the idle but while driving it has a bad skip to it its a 5 speed and on take off if you dont keep the rpm high and sort of ride the clutch it will die before tuneup it ran fine i have already checked to see if the wires were crossed but there fine the gap in the plugs are fine all the wires are connected good im lost
Check the plug wires again, you might have put them in the wrong position or orientation. Also look for some other issue, like a vacuum leak, you might have knocked something loose or not connected.
No vacuum advance but the map is there. The TBI's read rotation from the pick-up coil in the distributor, it plugs into the ignition module, which sends a signal to the pcm. Could you have bumped the plug in the dist. Thats the only thing on the distributor that would throw a code. If they look good check the other sensors make sure you didn't bump a wire. If that doesn't work check the ignition control module itself, but I've never had one partially go. Usually when the ICM dies she don't run???
these trucks can be picky with parts, they like AcDelco. Not saying other brands wont work but you run a risk. The only experiance i've had is never use bosch plugs in them. They work well in other vehicles but not this one. IF gap is correct and firing order is correct then it should be good. You didnt loosen and rotate the distributor did you? It sounds like mixed up plug wires. 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 is the firing order.
