What is making my car burn a lot of oil ??

I have a 1990 gmc sierra 5.7L and it
burn a lot of oil at mid to high rpm's.
When its in low rpm's it doesnt burn
oil but once you rev it..it start burning
a lot of oil .. Could it be the pcv
valve??

Could be the PCV, cheap enough to replace. Your valve guides and or rings might also be worn allowing the oil to burn. How many miles on the engine?

Would it cost a lot to replace the rings?? And it has 311,000 miles

Oil burning at idle is worn valve guide seals. Oil burning while driving/ higher RPMs is rings. With that many miles on it I'd say it's time for an engine rebuild. HTH. -Jim
