Could be the PCV, cheap enough to replace. Your valve guides and or rings might also be worn allowing the oil to burn. How many miles on the engine?

Would it cost a lot to replace the rings?? And it has 311,000 miles

Oil burning at idle is worn valve guide seals. Oil burning while driving/ higher RPMs is rings. With that many miles on it I'd say it's time for an engine rebuild. HTH. -Jim
