Bad vibration in rear end

Asked by Sep 30, 2017 at 05:40 PM about the 1989 Chevrolet C/K 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 89 chevy silverado c/k 1500 and out of
nowhere the rear end started rattling really bad.
This happens when I put it into drive and start to
move. The rear passenger wheel shakes really bad
and the whole truck rattles. When in reverse it
doesn't rattle but spuds like something is knocking.
I believe it is the gears but would like to know what
else it could be.

You'll have to inspect the tire and wheel first. Is it balanced properly? Get the truck in the air and check the driveline and differential next. Anything loose or broken that you can see, like a suspension component?
