Alternator or a bad battery

Asked by Aug 12, 2019 at 02:43 PM about the 2005 Dodge Caravan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a brand new battery in my car and when it
goes to start all it does is click click click click click
but you can jumpstart the car and once the battery
charges up a little bit it restarts is this the battery
bad or is it the alternator

1 Answer

Repetitive clicking is usually a sign of a bad battery. But the bad battery might not be bad; it might be improperly recharged by the bad alternator. And that's your problem.
