coolant around cap for radiator. Temp is spiked. Water pump or radiator hose ect?

After running for 10 minutes the temp is really high. I found fluid around the
radiator cap. What would be the best way to check this?

Maybe you need a new radiator cap but something else is probably wrong. First check the coolant level and purge air out of the system (check Youtube for how to videos). If that does not do it you should do a full cooling system service - flush, hoses, thermostat and new coolant. Also check to make sure your cooling fans are working. If you have a lot of white exhaust smoke you probably have a bad head gasket.

Try to determine where the coolant is coming from. If your radiator has a hole or crack then it is time for a new one.

So my coolant was really low. I topped that off and replaced the thermostat and everything is working! Thanks for the input.
