Are you in a cold climate? What is the condition of the battery? Only 3446 miles on an 1987? You might have water in your fuel. Since you don't drive much, when was the last time you drained/replaced it?

ya thats what my guess would be water in the fuel lines if you live in the midwest. throw a bottle of ISO HEET in the fuel tank
