Check Engine Light On Dealership says I need 4 oxygen sensors at $3200.00, does this sound right?
2005 Crossfire-35000 miles. Check Engine light comes on and now dealership says code
says needs oxygen sensors at over $700 per sensor. Does this sound right? Not
mechanically savvy. what if not replaced right away? options?
What are the actual code numbers?
I think the best option for you is to check with another mechanic who specializes in older Mercedes-Benz SLK or at least the 3.2 engine in particular. Reason: I needed the front steering stabilizer for my 05 X-fire roadster. the dealer wanted $300 plus for the part and another $250 to install it. I found the same part on eBay for $28.00, made by Mercedes, I went to my Buddy's shop and we installed in in 10 minutes. Dealers are in the business of making money. If you have it, they will take it.
I believe the codes are P0138 -Dealership game me that for 4 Oxygen Sensors, it would be $642.22 per sensor (part) and total labor $415.45
