Engine body swap

Asked by Oct 11, 2017 at 08:29 PM about the 2008 Dodge Ram 3500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My work truck has  recently acquired some
major body damage.  However my engine is
in great condition and I'd like to just find a
used body thats in much better shape than
mine to put my engine in.  Question is...
What year dodge would my 2008 6.7 liter
turbo charged diesel engine fit  in?

Sometimes you can find a complete truck with frame damage but the body is in good shape, then you could just swap out your bad one for the good one. check your local wrecking yards.

Thank you and yes I understand that, but will my engine fit in any year or model dodge or does it need to be specific? Ideally I'm looking to put it in a one ton crew cab, maybe flat bed style to easily haul my goose neck dump trailer and 4-5 employees... Any suggestions?

It should fit in any Dodge, 07,08,09 that was already a diesel without to much trouble, any older or newer and there will have to be some structural mods performed and some electronic reprogramming, possibly more that might crop up.
