1992 Cadillac Deville Parking Brake
I pushed the parking brake and now I can't get it to release. I don't see a release lever. How do I release the parking brake?
Push it to the floor it will release.
The owners manual for the SEVILLE not the Deville says just put it in Drive and it will release. Don't know if it the same or not. TST is probably right anyway
I pushed it to the floor and put it in drive but it still won't release. I guess I'll have to take it apart. Thanks
Lostcar, the pin may have came out,but you are in the right direction.
Just above and to the right of the emergency brake pedal assembly you'll see a lever. Push up on it and the emergency brake pedal will release. This is the emergency release lever. There's a vacuum actuator that normally releases the brake when you shift out of park or neutral. It's controlled by the neutral safety switch at the base of the steering column near the floor. Check for a disconnected vacuum hose at the neutral safety switch or at the vacuum actuator on the emergency brake pedal assembly. HTH. -Jim
Awesome! Thanks! The car has been sitting for a few years and I've seen a couple of vaccum hoses that are broken.
You're welcome. Glad to help. -Jim
my 93 deville has a lever that you pull toward you it is at the top of the pedal bracket
