I have a 2001 Cadillac DeVille my question is
will it start and run with the ignition switch
out of the column

going to have to say NO, as the column lock must be de-activated too~ you will need the steering column~ cars these days really do not need warm-up, unless you are north of the arctic circle~

probably not , there's a transponder in it that tells the computer to start the car
