Dead Car

Asked by Feb 14, 2018 at 05:00 AM about the 1974 Pontiac Ventura

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Literally just got the car back from a shop
and drove it home. I went to start it and
nothing, no dash or gauge lights. Pulled the
headlights on and they wont turn on.
Thinking the battery is dead I try to jump it
and still nothing. Headlights and all.

Maybe the battery cables are loose.

Had it happen to me in my Ventura back in the day. A wire from the wiring harness along the valve cover shorted on the engine block, A little electrical tape and all is good.
