Why do my lights stay on after a jump

I'm away from home a couple months at a time when I come make my car won't start, but after a jump the lights won't go off.

The continual voltage slowly dropping away could have damaged the light control module, not to mention the other electronics that are being damaged, I would suggest using a battery maintainer while your gone, that way the battery will be at a constant voltage while your gone so further damage can be avoided. If that can't happen then take the battery out and put it on a maintainer unit while your gone. Low voltage can do strange things to today's vehicles. HTH
