Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I got a 2005 Cadillac deville two years ago.
Replaced silanoid switch in transmission
because of bump in shifting, new shocks,
flushed coolant system, replaced pulley on
water pump idel arm, new coolant reservoir
tank. use premium gas, use royal purple
oil, change oil filter every 5000 and top oil
out, change oil every 30,000.  Lubricanted
all bushings in frame attachments with
WD40 or other such lubricants, new brakes
and turned rotors, replaced one wheel
bearing, replaced one air conditioner
actuator in Vent system. It really runs great
now. Have driven 40,000 miles in last two
years. Just drove it on a 2000 mile round
trip with no problems. Is there anything to
be particularly on the look out for with this
make and model with it being so old a
165.000 miles.

Yes, all Northstar engines blow head gaskets. But with 165,000 miles on it there's a very good chance the head gaskets have already been done. They usually fail around 90,000 to 120,000 miles. Do a Carfax report on it. Some shops and most dealers report to Carfax so if the head gaskets have already been done it may show up on the report. Otherwise, as Tom said, drive it and enjoy. Looks like a very nice car!! HTH. -Jim
