Was driving and smelled radiator coolant, temp gauge never showed overheating, reached my destination and opened hood. Coolant evident on right side near overflow tank and back towards firewall. I opened cap on over flow tank and added fluid and noticed fluid running out bottom of car. I climbed under it and it appears to be running on passengers side above transmission and running down. 2002 with a v8

Hope this helps ... may not be what your problem is. Mine did overheat, and it was the soft plug. It had a very tiny slit in it from rust. The soft plug on mine (4.0L V6) was located way to the back of the engine and down (sorry, I'm not a mechanic so I don't know exactly where it was located). The mechanic had to remove most of the top of the engine to get to it. When he replaced it he put a thin layer of silicone in the cap to hopefully keep it from rusting again. Hope this helps.
