2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac won't start; all lights come on, intermittent gas tank sounds
intermittently my 2002 ford explorer sport trac won't start. i can turn key to 'on' position,
all lights on panel come on. sometimes another person listening at gas tank can hear
sounds, sometimes not. tapping the fuel pump relay started it but now it doesn't anymore.
took to dealership, they tell me it's a dead battery. any clues? i think we killed the battery
trying to start it and had to tow it to the dealership and now they say battery is dead.
switch the pump relay with one of the other ones in the box like headlights or something ,who needs them as long as its running anyway !
we tried that and still nothing. dealership claims nothing wrong with relays. they replaced the inertia switch 11 months ago. they say it's fine. that it's a dead battery. daughter and boyfriend picked up my truck; it started without a problem. he will keep it to test things himself so i won't get stranded.
