Where is the fuse for the 12V power outlet on the Ford Escape?

Asked by lynncy1 Oct 18, 2007 at 10:17 AM about the 2002 Ford Escape

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The 12V power outlet below the cigarette lighter in my 2002 Ford Escape is no longer working.  I looked at the fuse map in the manual, and I cannot find where the fuse is for it.  Any help is much appreciated!  Thanks!

According to the manual, the fuse is in the power distribution box under the hood. It is fuse #12 (20A)

This is same for my 2005 escape limited. The owners manual and my Haynes manual don't specifiy all that this fuse protects.

2008 Ford Escape cigarette lighter/12V Power Port is Fuse #40 located within the interior fuse box on the passenger side. It is a 20 amp mini fuse and is normally yellow in color.

To guruT19Q above: The cigarette lighter on a 2005 ford escape only works if the car is started and engine is running. Then you hold the lighter in for a few seconds and it gets hot. Not sure of other year fords. Therefore, you should not plug your phone into the lighter receptacle... it will not charge if engine is off. Use the Aux port next to shifter which provides full time power on or off.

The location of this fuse in a 2002 Escape is behind a removable panel on the driver's side kick panel. It is a 20 amp fuse in location 14.

Hi, I also have a 2005 Escape. The fuse is the 20A mini fuse in the engine compartment power distribution box, fuse #12. It is called Power Point, as it is an always-hot 12V power outlet.
