My Truck is stuck in 3rd gear?
My 1969 ford f100 is stuck in 3rd gear? it just wont come back down into neutral, Is there anything i can check? Or is it time for a new tranny?
Is it a "3 on the Tree?" If it's a column shift three-speed manual transmission, it's very likely that the shift collar is wearing out on the steering column and the linkages are trying to shift into two gears at once. You can pop off the linkages at the transmission (2 linkages on 2 levers) and see if things move. I had a '68 F-100 with a 240cu in. 6 cylinder and a 3 on the tree. Believe it or not, I was able to find a brand-new collar and tube for my truck!
