66 Ford F100 headlights work intermittently.

Asked by Oct 24, 2019 at 06:45 PM about the 1966 Ford F-100

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 66 Ford F100 that has been restored with new electrical system.
The headlights go on and last about 20 minutes.  Once off, if I turn the switch
off they come back on after about 15 minutes.  I looked for a relay and found
the 66 had the relay built into the switch.  Replaced the switch and it still
goes off/on as described.  Looked for a second relay somewhere within the
system w/o success.  Open for ideas to repair or a more modern
replacement that uses the original knob.  Vehicle has a modern fuse box, but
nothing visual under the hood or undercarriage.
