what does 442 originaly stand for

my good friend, four-four-deuce stands for 4 barrel rochester Quadrajet carb, 4 gear stick tranny, and dual exhaust.

later it stood for 400 cubic inch engine, 4 barrel and 2 exhaust. auto was an option, so the 442 name is kinda meaningless.

your both right, I had a 68, 69, 71, 74,but that year ,442 was just a option, not a model all by itself. hope this helps
