I have a 2003 Taurus SEL where the AC will run for about 45 minutes and then it seems as though a baffle closes as I hear a sound like the blower is pushing the air but the air is not moving freely. I turn the unit off for about 20 minutes, it works and then the same problem occurs. The same problem appears when I run the heater. Works great for about 45 minutes. I turn it off for about 20 mins and then it works ago for the next 45 mins or so. I have had it to the dealer 3 times, two local "experts" and no-one has ever heard of this before!
sounds like an actuator is bad and not letting the door open
Okay so inside the dash (not that hard to take apart if you look it upon TCCA) there are vacuum motors as they're called. There are three of them if memory serves me. They rely on vacuum from the engine to change the direction of air flow in the cabin, at the request of the position switches on your climate control. My bet is that one of these is failing. The parts aren't expensive but your dealer probably has to order them for you as they almost never fail.
