My '79 mgb is not getting gas to the filter.

Asked by Jan 17, 2014 at 05:52 PM about the 1979 MG MGB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I took the fuel filter off and no gas comes out when filter is ticking. This car sat for 7 years before I bought it. No gas at all in the tank until I put 6 gals of premium in today. Any ideas? BMW

Most likely there's varnish clogging the fuel lines. If you have a mechanical fuel pump, replace it. After 7 years of sitting the rubber diaphragm inside is shot. HTH. - Jim
