Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my manual 64 Volvo 1800 gear grinds when shifting down from 4th to 3rd.  All other shifts up or down are fine.  What would you recommend?

if shifting up to 4th is ok then mainshaft needle bearings are probably bad wont be long before you need transmission repaired may need new mainshaft and input gear could get expensive
