Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1989 toyota (according to vin #) however title says 1990, truck v6 automatic.  speedometer cable or sensor.  I do not see the cable and where it should come out of the firewall their is a black plug.  I assume it is a sensor type.  How do i find it.  the speedometer does not work but the fuel gage does.  Help....

Everything I see is that it is a cable ??? Maybe not there ??? VSS actually works off the cable on the back of the speedo head. If this is some oddball - the electronic style Speedo sensor will be on the tail shaft of the transmission OR the tailshaft of the transfer case if 4x4 - Good Luck
