just how rare is my toyota
I have a 1989 toyota pickup SR5 22RE motor with all the options AC cruise power windows and locks, I ve never seen these options especially PW adn PDL offered to 4 cyl 4x4 body
does any one know how many of these were sold or produced?
Between 1975 and 1995, Toyota had sent some 16 to 17 million trucks to the US and Canada, so what you have isn't necessarily rare however, more four wheel drive trucks had sold with all the options in either 4 or 6 cylinder than the two wheel drives. But the 22RE is the better engine to have than the 3VZ.
i had one in 85 awsome truck miss it was out hunting and the parking brake cable snaped n it wen down 3000 foot cliff and about the 22re being a better engine then the v6 VZE i belive that is all in the person that owns the vehicle and how well it maintained i have had both and my VZE has out lasted the 22RE by far but i also take better care of the V^ now too
I want to buy a 4wd Toyota . I see many "rebuilt" are they reliable (Usually) or would you stay away from a rebuilt' engine?
Overall the 22re is a better engine, but the 3vze 3.0 is also a great engine! It just requires a little more care and is a little harder to work on due to the oversized v6 they put under the hood. Overall replace the head gasket at 150k miles on the 3.0 and it will run forever, mine is currently at 313k and runs fin I just changed the head at 250k
The 22re gets the edge but not by much!
