1972 Ford Custom 500 windsheild wiper switch access

I need to fix my wiper switch the knob is jammed all the way in and I wanted to know the easiest way without having to pull the whole dash. Unless that's what I need to do.

If you can, Try to get a small flat tip screwdriver between the knob and the dash and try to pop the knob off. There should be a small notch or slot in the knob to do so. Otherwise I see no other alternative other than crushing the knob with a pair of pliers ( the knob is plastic) to break it from the shaft then replacing the knob with another.
