am i driving in the right gear?

I just got a 97 acura cl and i have been driving in D3 but i noticed that when i got a little
over 45 mph the car slows down , should i be driving in D4?

Have your Toque Converter Clutch solenoid checked but first have transmission fluid checked.

Short answer YES, you should be driving in D4. D3 when towing or long downhills.
