possibly a restricted fuel filter or a weak pump, need check the fuel pressure at the throttle body

It is possible that the fuel pump is overheating cause, anything under a 1/4 tank the pump is no longer covered by fuel so it has lost some cooling ability, add on some age and the pump is worn and runs warmer than it normally would. I would recommend replacing the fuel pump assembly and the filters, then do not let the fuel level drop below a 1/4 tank, that way the fuel pump will always be covered by fuel so it can maintain it's cool.
