I'm looking at a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid. It only has 30,000 miles on it. My concern is the hybrid battery. It has the original. Is there any easy way to tell how much life the battery has left?

A mechanic can check the battery's condition. This is important as the warranty is over. If you're really interested in the car, if you find out the battery is satisfactory, have the mechanic go over the rest of the car. If he blesses it, you might have a good buy. If he finds other defects, you might use those as bargaining tools. BTW, this is an eleven year old car. Find out why it has only thirty-thousand miles on it. And don't believe the story about only driven to church on Sundays.

I do not know of any way to verify or test battery life. The low miles is good but not a guarantee. A Honda dealer may be able to tell but I would see how far it can go on the battery only. I doubt it could go more than a mile or so even on a good battery. Check hybrid forums for more information.
